March 26, 2012Eat Asparagus to Get and Keep Skinny this Spring!
in Rules to Follow to Get and Stay Slim,General
When it's springtime in the mid-west there isn't a more quintessential veggie than asparagus to remind me of the soft green grass and breezy nights yet to come. I love roasting asparagus with olive oil and making asparagus soup with poached eggs and a simple green salad. Not only is asparagus delicious to eat but consuming this American favorite can help get and keep you thin.
Fresh asparagus contains fair amounts of anti-oxidant vitamins such as vitamin-C, vitamin-A and vitamin-E. Regular consumption of foods rich in these vitamins helps body develop resistance against infectious agents and scavenge harmful, pro-inflammatory free radicals from the body.
Back to the "thin"... Asparagus is one of those veggies that is very low in calories. In fact more calories will are burnt digesting this long green gem than will be gained. This type of veggie, along with celery, is called a negative calorie vegetable. Another reason to love asparagus is for its high level of dietary fiber. Dietary fiber helps control constipation, decrease bad, "LDL" cholesterol levels by binding to it in the intestines, and regulates blood sugar levels. In addition, high fiber diet helps prevent colon-rectal cancer risks by preventing toxic compounds found in food from absorption. Bottom line, the more you poop the more toxins you rid from your system and the skinnier you look and feel due to less bloat.
Not only can asparagus help get and keep you thin, it tastes great too. Couple this powerful anti-oxident with the no gluten and non dairy ingredients in my Skinny Aspargus Soup with Poached Eggs recipe and you have an incredibly easy and tasty no brainer recipe to help get and keep you thin.
