Cooking program shares secrets on cooking smart and eating well
Long Grove, Ill. (March 21, 2012) - Gigi Verrey, author of "Okay, So I Got Fat," along with Sunset Foods' Thyme in the Kitchen, will share secrets on planning simple, healthy and progressive meals, Thursday, April 19, 6:30-8:30 p.m., Sunset Foods, 4190 State Highway 83 , Long Grove. Verrey will demonstrate how to prepare a tasty Thai chicken dish that morphs into another meal to save you time and money all while providing tips to bring sanity back into the kitchen. Demonstration and tasting, $10.00. Advanced registration is required by calling 847-810-0484; space is limited.
An accomplished cook, Verrey, who draws on her Swiss and Southern heritages for her culinary skills, wrote the book after a year-long process of learning how to streamline meal preparation while making meals that were healthy, didn't take hours to prepare, her family liked, and wouldn't break the food budget. Through trial and error she took the stress out of grocery shopping and figured out what calories could be cut without sacrificing taste. The result of her research and passion for cooking is a book that reads like having a chat with your girlfriend - direct, honest, and funny.
In January she launched a website (www.gigiverrey.com) and blog to accompany "Okay, So I Got Fat" and plans to continue expanding on the essential message of the book - it is possible to cook great meals and have a life.
"Okay, So I Got Fat" will be available for purchase, at the reduced price of $16 for Thyme in the Kitchen attendees, or may be purchased online at www.gigiverrey.com for $25, which includes shipping. ###
